When Jessica first inquired with me in to photograph her and Mark’s wedding we immediately began talking about snow. One of Mark’s first comments was “what would you think about having our engagement session in the snow”. Of course I was on board… that sounded like a blast. Unfortunately, Mother Nature had other plans and we did not have another snow after our January meeting. Little did we know that she had much bigger plans in store as the wedding Jessica was planning was meant for snow.
Jessica and Mark were married on December 9, 2017 at Hollyfield Manor in Manaquin, Virginia (just north of Richmond). The days leading up to their wedding, you could find me and Jessica texting back and forth about the impending weather! The excitement was building, and we just could not believe that they were actually going to get their wish for snow!!!
Thankfully, the snow didn’t stick too badly to the roads so all the vendors and guests were able to get to Hollyfield easily. It did stick to the trees and grass in a way that made everything look like a winter wonderland! Jessica & Mark shared a no see first look that set the stage of calm for the rest of the day. Then immediately after their ceremony we braved the cold and excitedly ran outside to begin portraits (and a snow ball fight) as the snow flakes fell. Their portraits are some of my all-time favorites…not just because of the snow but because of how happy and in love they were. It was such a joyful day!
Their ceremony and reception were held in Hollyfield Manor’s intimate ballroom. Graced with candles, a fireplace, Christmas trees, and chandeliers. The elegance and beauty of this wedding does not end there, as the reception began with a Viennese Waltz for the first dance. After dinner, toasts, the shoe game and the cake cutting, Jessica & Mark danced the night away with their guests to the music of Dharma Bombs.
